Cooking with the Seasons

I just wanted to share with my fellow Foodies a fabulous site I found on the BBC website for seasonal food. Inspired by the movement to 'Go Green' and food inspired literature, I have decided to educate myself on seasonal and local foods that may help further reduce the impact on our environment.
Find meaning in this love for food, and Eco friendly novel "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kinsgsolver. Then keep up with whats in season by visiting

Hey Abby,
Its funny you should mention going green and eco-friendliness. Randy and I have started a great garden this spring. He has never been the gardener type until recently and he is determined to do it all organically. We've planted walla-walla onions, strawberries and rhubarb (of course), green beans, tomatoes, carrots, radishes, cucumber, lettuce, and a fine little herb garden so far. Oh, and raspberry bushes and blueberry bushes (we bought 8 gallon blueberries last week at Walmart for 2 cents a pop...what a deal!)

That is so exciting! You have got to read that book. She talks about growing her own food and raising her children, giving special attention to hard to grow foods like onions, and asparagus. There are even recipes.
